Who am I? Good question, my name is Charles and I am a DBA. That sounded a little AA ish but I’ll skip past that and hope no one noticed.
I started out managing SQL 2005 Servers and it seems the longer I am a DBA the older the instances I get to see. Having recently been sent a SQL 7 DB to be restored to a shared SQL platform (first time I have seen anything SQL 7 and considering SQL 2000 was in production whilst I was doing my GCSE’s) I tend to spend most of my time retiring those old systems and implementing the latest HA features.
I am currently a SQL Server consultant working for Quadratix, troubleshooting performance issues and consolidating large SQL environments all in the name of saving money on licensing. The bigger the environment the bigger the savings.
This blog was going to be about my journey to MCSM (but that has been cut short thanks Microsoft) so it will now be about the same journey without the exams or feedback from peers.
